End of an Amazing Summer - Dante Navarro

It’s hard to believe that ten weeks has come to an end so quickly. During my last days here, I am making sure to take in everything around me, from little things like the bike rides next to the corn fields in the mornings to having lunch with the lab every day. These are  I took for granted during the summer that I will truly miss. Thankfully throughout the last week, we still have our going away lunch as well as a social outing the last night we are here with our colleagues.

Morning View on My Way to Work

This past Friday was the culmination of our work for the summer with a presentation to our peers from the lab. I had not known most of the projects that my peers were working on, so it was rewarding to see their efforts of the summer pay off as well. Because of that same reason, I was proud showing my research that I had completed for the summer. At the conclusion of my research, I created a functional prototype that overlays stress levels with a user’s own calendar. With this prototype, our team will look to the future to continuing testing this prototype to determine if it could be used functionally in the future and continue to improve upon it by adding more features.

Presenting My Summer Project to My Peers

My time at imec has flown by, but it has opened my eyes to an expanse of opportunities for the future. Initially I never thought to explore career and academic endeavors overseas, but after this internship, I feel that my options are not limited in the slightest by location. In the future, I would love to continue scientific collaboration on a global scale because to me, even the slight changes in culture can provide differing outlooks to the same problem.
