The past two weeks have been very exciting, and filled with
travel! Last weekend the interns and I went to Paris for two days,
and the city is amazing! Filled with beautiful squares, statues, and memorials, Paris
is a must-see for anyone traveling through Europe.
My favorite part was probably visiting the Louvre (the
biggest art museum in the world!). Although I spent more than three hours walking through the
museum, I managed to only explore maybe one-fifth of the art! Also, I was able to enjoy a free orchestral
concert in of the many beautiful churches. Overall, Paris is such a big city with so much to see, and
if I could return for another weekend I would love to.

After our French excursion, we had to celebrate the 4th
of July! Because we are the only Americans, our celebration was
small, but we managed to put together a real American barbecue, with fat
burgers and chicken wings :) Then this past weekend us interns went to explore Amsterdam
together! The city is truly unique, and again I really enjoyed the
museums. We visited the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum and I was
surprised to actually enjoy the Rijksmuseum more! Although I am a big fan of
Van Gogh, all the huge stained-glass windows at the Rijksmuseum really blew me
away.

As far as my research project is going, it is making steady
progress. My supervisor went on vacation last week so I have been
doing a lot of computer work: including COMSOL physics simulations of the
microfluidic channels in my device and redesigning the device mask in AutoCAD.
Now this weekend, I am going to Rome! Needless to say, I am very excited and I’ll be
sure to update all of you in my next blog post.
